Due to Covid-19, the confirmation class is meeting in a hybrid format. You may either attend in person (masked) in the room next to the youth group room or by Zoom on Sundays at 11:00 AM. If you attend by zoom, access the class using this link after getting the password from Youth Director, Grace Casola at gcasola@stmarks-elca.org.

Confirmation at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church is a two-year program, typically for youth in the 7th grade and 8th grade, that leads to an adult affirmation of their baptism on their Confirmation Day. Students alternate between learning Luther’s Small Catechism and studying Scripture by year This program uses the “Here We Stand” curriculum by Augsburg Fortress, which covers Luther’s Small Catechism, the Old Testament, the New Testament, and Lutheran theology and doctrine. Service projects are also incorporated into the program in various ways. For more information on the full curriculum and expectations, please see the 2020-2021 Confirmation Handbook.

The confirmation class is offered on Sundays from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. Due to Covid-19, the Confirmation class will meet in a hybrid format. You may either attend in person (masked) in the education wing in Room 217, or attend by Zoom by accessing the class using this link after getting the password from Youth Director, Grace Casola at gcasola@stmarks-elca.org.

Expectations of confirmands (in compliance with CDC guidelines for gathering):

  • Attend and participate in Worship regularly.

  • Read assigned texts before the class.

  • Participate in the life of the congregation (acolyte, social ministry, or other church programs)

  • Attend and participate in Confirmation Events, lock-ins, retreats, and service projects.

Reminder:  Confirmands are responsible to contact Peter Weekly or Peggy Harris to make arrangements to cover missed classes.

All Parents are encouraged to participate in the confirmation program in some way; Please think about how you would like to serve your young people and church. If you have any questions or concerns about the confirmation program, please contact Grace Casola via email at gcasola@stmarks-elca.org.
